What is 4-HO-MiPT?

4-Hydroxy-N-methyl-N-isopropyltryptamine (also known as 4-HO-MiPT and miprocin) is a novel psychedelic substance of the tryptamine class that produces psilocybin-like psychedelic effects when administered. It is one of a series of psychedelically substituted tryptamines such as 4-AcO-DMT, 4-HO-MET and 4-HO-DiPT, which are thought to produce variations of the core psychedelic effects typical of psilocin.

This substance is relatively rare and has only recently been used in humans. Alexander Shulgin evaluated its effects in humans in 1979 and described a trial with 12 mg as an extremely enlightening and highly erotic experience. A description of 4-HO-MiPT is included in Shulgin's 1997 book TiHKAL. Shulgin's studies and other anecdotal reports suggest that 4-hydroxy-N-methyl-N-isopropyltryptamine is similar in activity to psilocin, the active ingredient in psilocybin mushrooms.
