What is 5-MeO-DALT?
N,N-diallyl-5-methoxytryptamine (also known as 5-MeO-DALT or colloquially as Foxtrot) is a lesser-known psychedelic substance of the tryptamine class that produces short-lived psychedelic effects when administered. It is structurally related to tryptamines such as 5-MeO-DiPT and DALT, although it has been reported to produce different effects.
Chemical properties of 5-MeO-DALT
N,N-Diallyl-5-methoxytryptamine is named after its chemical structure 5-MethOxy-DiALlylTryptamine. It contains two allyl groups attached to the amino group and a 5-methoxy group attached to the indole ring of tryptamine. It is a structural analogue of DALT and 5-MeO-DiPT. 5-MeO-DALT is a cream-coloured powder at room temperature.
What are the effects of 5-MeO-DALT?
Anecdotal reports characterise the effects of this substance as primarily physical in nature and lacking the characteristic visual distortions or depth of perception of most psychedelics. Its headspace has been described as 'flat', although its strong stimulant and libidinal effects make it suitable for sexual contexts. It has also been reported to produce more unpleasant cardiovascular effects such as increased blood pressure and heart rate compared to other psychedelics. This has raised questions about possible toxicity associated with long-term or intensive use.
